Falcon4 Mini-Review
by Rally
I have gotten a little time to try out the newest version of the Falcon 4 game. It is very well done, with a high degree of polish. The printed manual is actually fun to read. It has just the right amount of detail to make it useful, while covering everything you need to get started. The online manual is much more detailed, being 700 pages, and I haven’t gotten through much of it. The approach is to describe how the systems work in a simple manner, so that you learn about the real plane at the same time learning what you need to play the game. There are 20+ training missions, an instant action and the campaign. I’ve tried some instant action, and was able to do OK with little prior knowledge. There is co-operative multiplayer, which I think will be the strong point of the game as far as we are concerned. The campaign also supports this, so I’m excited about the possibilities. The game only requires the CD for installation. A refreshing change from C&C Generals and Empire Earth 2! The difficulty (realism) is settable from easy to realistic, so you can jump in with a little reading and enjoy the game. For $30, I think it was money well spent.
