We at ShamelessGeeks believe that your privacy is important to you, so therefore, it is important to us. That's why we have come up with a strict policy regarding any personal data that you entrust us with.
Our goal is to keep your personal data as well protected as we can. When you entrust us with personal data, be assured that we will never sell or give it to anyone unless you instruct us to. Period. We will never send advertisement email that you haven't requested. Period. We will never automatically add you to an opt-out mailer. Period. We will never track your internet accesses outside of our own website, nor will we allow any third party access to internal tracking data. Period. The only possible exception to this would involve a valid court order. If you would like a more detailed description of the policy, read on.

Personal Data and Third Parties

The most important part of our policy concerns how we treat you personal data. This data can range from a simple email address that was used for login, to a contributing membership that contains a full set of contact info as well as info about how much you have earned from our revenue share program. We will never provide that information to a third party without you instructing us to.

Data Sharing by Permission

You can voluntarily share your data with others via one of our "opt-in" mechanisms. These mechanisms are provided in places where we feel that it may be in your best interest to share some piece of data. In such cases, you would be required to click an "opt-in" checkbox that allows us to forward data that you specify to a class of users that you specify.

For example, when you submit a resume, you will be asked whether or not we can forward your email address to interested headhunters. If you check the "yes" option, we will allow members access to your email address. If you check "no" then we will not. The default answer for the checkbox will be "no".

Internal Use of Personal Data

Some of the personal data we collect will be used for internal purposes. These purposes will be spelled out before we record the data in out database, usually at the top of the page that we use to collect it. We will NOT use this data to send advertisements of any kind.

On occasion, there may be times when that management will need to inform users of an impending change. This may involve the expiration of an account, a major change in policy, or even the shutdown of the site. In cases such as this, we reserve the right to contact all of our members to inform them of these changes.

Opt-in vs. Opt-out

Lots of web sites claim to protect your data, but you must specifically request it. We will protect your data unless you specifically ask us not to. All of our data sharing checkboxes are opt-in, meaning that you must specifically request us to share the data before we will. In addition, if a new mechanism is added, all current members will default to the opt-out setting.

Access logs and Tracking

This server uses all of the standard facilities for logging IP addresses that access pages on this site. All servers do this as part of their record keeping. We will not provide this data to third parties, nor will we we use it to track activities of individual users on our site.

The only exception to the 'no tracking' rule will be to monitor for "ad spamming". This is the act of continuously clicking on an ad to generate false click-through's, thereby artificially increasing the ad income of a page. Any tracking data collected will be automatically deleted as soon as it is determined that it is no longer needed as part of an ad-spamming case. In all cases, this data will not be used for any other purposes.

Cookies

Shamelessgeeks.com reserves the right to set cookies for their own use. We recognize that cookies can be annoying, so we will make as little use of them as possible. Of course, you have the right to turn off cookies in your browser. If you choose to do so, the site will operate as normal. Our cookies will only be used for convenience, not to limit access.

Some of our advertisers may wish to use cookie systems. Shamelessgeeks cannot be held responsible for cookies placed on your system by third parties. We can only speak for our own.
