It has just come to my attention that a man from New Zealand has been arrested for lobbing a hedgehog at a young boy. Not to worry folks. I have it on good authority that this was NOT our beloved Spiny Norman, only a distant relative of his. You are bound to lose weight if you restrict yourself to eating from a tiny noodle bowl developed by Japanese scientists. At 1/25,000 on an inch, it’s the ultimate in portion control. Word is that the Ramen noodle in the bowl is inedible. That’s OK… my sources say that ramen is bad for you anyway. I guess that’s why I eat so much of it.

Just when you thought it was safe to SCO into the water, Along comes a Singapore company trying squeeze free money out of the internet. If you check out their web site, you’ll see that they actually seem to believe their claims.

From what I can see, the patent is a useless combination of prior art containing nothing worthy of exclusive rights. Nearly all of it refers to things that have been in use since the early nineties. There is some tiny little chance that they may get away with patenting the idea of returning search engine results in the form of images on a “conveyer belt slide show", but the rest of the claims will blow the whole thing out of the water.

The odd thing is that the company has sent out invoices in an attempt to charge people for using an image link. It’s more than a little bit silly to claim rights to something that was part of a specification long before you filed your patent. It’s about as intelligent as trying to collect usage fees from every automobile driver in the country because you designed a car.

It looks like the old Russian communist party is a little upset about the new Indiana Jones film. I especially like the part where they say “It’s rubbish … In 1957 the communists did not run with crystal skulls throughout the U.S. Why should we agree to that sort of lie and let the West trick our youth?”

Well, I have news for them… in 1957 Harrison Ford wasn’t running around with crystal skulls either. It’s called entertainment. Obviously, it’s a difficult concept for commies. I doubt that your youth are tricked by it. They aren’t as laughably stupid as you are.

It’s funny to hear this kind of thing from a group that once advocated that America and Americans must be portrayed as evil in any form of entertainment. Their opinion carried the force of law at the time. Hey comrade… Can dish it out but can’t take it?

Having seen the movie, I can tell you a couple of things..

1. It’s a lot of fun, but far from historically accurate. Anyone who uses this as a source of historical information is probably too dumb to spell Soviet anyway.
2. Nothing is even close to realistic. (The fridge thing? C’Mon) The fact that everything in this movie was over-the-top should have been obvious to anyone watching.
3. They made the US govt. in 1957 look just as bad as the Soviet Govt. in 1957. It’s even quite obvious that this was an afterthought and an attempt to be politically correct.

This time, things look bad for our old buddy Jack. He’s headed for a sanctions hearing and it looks like he’s going to be found guilty. Considering some of the things he’s accused of, I doubt that he’ll ever be taken seriously in a court of law again.

I actually hope that he doesn’t disappear completely from the spotlight. I realize that I’ve been known to rant about his views in the past, but I seriously hope he stays around. It’s really easy to make a point when the guy countering it has a question mark in the sanity column.

Kill aliens or go skiing while you relieve yourself. There really isn’t much more to say about this… except that the rest of us are pissed that we didn’t think of it first. It really beats the heck out of those little plastic spinners that were once popular in the bottom of urinals.
